| Dino Pacifici, the multi-talented creator of a sound that he has described as "ambience with an attitude," is back with another effort, and once again he moves his music into new spaces. Other-worldly spaces, in fact, as you might guess with a track titled "The Ice Fields Of Neptune." While he doesn't name check any other planets, he seems to travel to several on Hallowed Ground, and the sounds he achieves on the disc (all of which are composed, performed, recorded and mixed by Mr. Pacifici his own self) will take you along with him. The dance oriented touches that often color his music are absent here. This is pure space stuff, combining pure electronics with ethnic percussion and introducing elements that defy such identifiable categorization. Pacifici has created a new sonic world here, with an atmosphere, climate, flora and fauna of pure aural creativity. It would be too easy to drop this into the "New Age" bin, and it would be wrong. Pacifici isn't afraid to provide a bit of tension and disonance in the mix when the mood calls for it, and that takes the music here somewhat past the ordinary conception of New Age sounds. Once again, there's definitely some attitude stirred into his ambient moods. You just never know what Dino Pacifici will do next, but as time goes on, it becomes clear that you can know it will be a step ahead of the pack and well worth your time and interest.
