This recording was one of those pleasant surprises for me because without any previous familiarity with this person's music, I found it likeable from the beginning. From that part of the music spectrum called smooth jazz or fusion, he offers the listener a background of synthesizer washes, while in the foreground come melodies carried by the distinctive notes of the plucked strings of the koto and sometimes guitar,which give way to words more spoken than sung, horn arrangements, and a variety of textures enhanced by samples and keyboards, anchored by bass and drum.He encourages listeners to get up and move with the music both by the message printed on the jacket and the melodic ebb and flow of the rhythms and convivial atmosphere imparted by the lyrical leads.
